1.3.7 upgrade to PHP 5.3 - will it break it for previous PHP ?

if we upgrade 1.3.7 to work on PHP 5.3 using the patches mentioned here:

will the script no longer work on previous versions of PHP ?

Your Zen Cart should work fine on other versions of php after adding the patch to work on 5.3 - Please note, you really should consider upgrading your cart to the most current version - presently 1.3.9d
