Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

Since I've upgraded to the new patch I've has sporadic reports of users unable to login to either of my zen cart sites. They advise they put their details in and the login page just flashes and refreshes. No error messages are displayed.

At first I suspected the usal user error and tried the below steps: -

1/ Asked user to try password reset procedure (forgot password link).

2/ Reset the users password myself. I could login using the new details, the end user could not.

I cannot explain this issue other than user error but I talked a customer through this on the phone and the only way he could get logged in was to change his browser to mozilla firefox.

Re: Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

What happens if you edit the file:
/includes/init_includes/init_sessions.php

and change line 38 from:

session_set_cookie_params(0, $path, (zen_not_null($cookiedomain) ? '.' . $cookiedomain : ''));

to read:

// session_set_cookie_params(0, $path, (zen_not_null($cookiedomain) ? '.' . $cookiedomain : ''));
session_set_cookie_params(0, $path, (zen_not_null($cookieDomain) ? '.' . $cookieDomain : ''));

Does that fix anything for you?

Did you ask the customer what browser and what operating system was being used?

Windows XP and IE 8.

I'll try the code changes and see if it makes any difference Ajeh.

BTW, the code you gave me looks exactly the same apart from the code that is commented out.

Is that right?

Re: Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

The camel case of $cookiedomain and $cookieDomain makes these very different ...

Re: Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

I have the exact same issue (except with ALL customers right now).

I have tried it both upper and lower case with no difference.

I'll be watching for more replies

Re: Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

Correction. I can log in with IE 7 (but not with Firefox or Safari) - but there is no continue to checkout button in the shopping cart!

Unfortunately, I can only give this situation about 10 hours and then I need to revert back to 139c. I need a functional website even if it's not "up to par". :(

With the new code change ...

Try clearing the cookies for your site in FireFox ... does this correct the problem?

Re: Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

You know - I thought I had done that. Apparently not!

Logging in works great now (and at least with my test accounts it doesn't seem to matter which line I use in the init_sessions file). I'll keep an eye on that.

Thank you!

Re: Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

I'm also having this problem after the upgrade. I had them clear their cookies and it did not work. I can try changing those few letters to capital like you mentioned, but I have noway of knowing if it works.

They were using IE8, medium security

Regardless that change is needed ...

Are you able to login without issue right now in IE 8?

Re: Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

I'm having the same issues...but i have a redirect of my main domain to a folder in my domain...when i type in the domain noramlly and try to log in via IE8 it will not let me (customer-test) login, but when i type out the entire domain and folder i can login without a problem...I'm on 1.39c...No problems with Mozilla firefox

http://www.fireantjuice.com/zen

full url to my zen folder location - login no problem

http://www.fireantjuice.com

it then redirects to the above url and login just loops it will not log me in but it will take me back to the login screen asking for username and password...

Very freaking strange

Thank you

Re: Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

You appear to have rewrites changing things from the www to no www on the url ...

Turn those off and see if it corrects the problem ...

Re: Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

Hi...do you mean the redirects from the hosting site which give you the option to with or without www??? If not what else do you mean...I did switch the settings around but now i cant even login as before when typing the /zen url...even when placing the settings back to normal....

It works fine with Mozilla and with Google Chrome...not working with IE7 or IE8

thanks

Re: Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

Go to:
http://www.fireantjuice.com

and watch the URL and how it changes to exclude the www in the URL on the redirect ...

Then, click the HOME link on your site and watch the URL ... see how it again includes the www ...

I think you have some sort of rewrite or redirect changing from including and excluding the www that is confusing things and it needs to be consistent ...

Re: Some customers cannot login after upgrade to 1.3.9d

I am also having this problem. I have a few customer who can see the store but can not login or order due to cookies. I have had them clear their cookies and update flash and java. But they are still unable to login due to cookies.

The store is at http://store.xeracx.net, and please it does contain adult images so be careful if youre concerned about that.

Thanks!
