Recovering from a server crash...need help

Our server recently crashed as a result of the operating system failing.

I am in the process of loading all my data back on the server.

I have all of the files from the public_html folder in place and all of the database files are in place.

However, that site is displaying the pre-installation page only.

Which server folders would have the installed components needed to make the site live again?

if you are loading all your data back to the server, then are you uploading the correct configure.php files

if you have never backed your site up, you may not have a copy of these files, so you would have to re-configure the two confure.php files

If the one for the server, try deleting or renaming it so Zen can do its thing.

Looks like you may need to take another look at the config files.
Also, make sure the info in the configuration table of your database reflects the proper locations/usernames.

I am having the same problem with the admin, but I can't find what needs to be corrected. Any suggestions?

admin/includes/configure.php and check those settings.

I was looking at the wrong config file.

Any idea about ZendOptimizer?

I've got one customer who is an authorized distributor for a California company. They are constantly complaining that his site shows up on the first page of Google and theirs is on like seven or eight.

He has done nothing more than add a few meta tags, some keywords (not for search engines but helpful), good product descriptions, and reciprocal links from places that carry his product.

Some say you need to optimize Zen Cart's links, but Google itself will tell you no.

Just get some accurate descriptions, do basic meta tags for each product, and try to have someone link to your site that is not some web ring. You'll be up there in no time.

Don't discount twitter and facebook as well. Create a business site on facebook and get some friends who will "like" the site.

Add twitter "follows" (if you can come up with two or three twitters a week) and facebook "likes" to the site.
