discarding mysql

My situation: I installed and modified the store on my home server, now I'm trying to transfer it to a new host except I don't need or want the mySQL db info...
1.Could starting a new db but overwriting all the zen cart files have caused a problem with either of the configure files?
2.Can I just run the install again from it's existing location, or do I have to start from scratch?

Re: discarding mysql

You should be able to create a new database on the server for your cart and transfer the folders and files from your computer to the server. You'll have to change the configure files to match the server info.

Alternately, start from scratch on the server. Create a new database for your Zen Cart and do the install.

Assuming you've used the override system, once that's done, transfer the folders/files you changed to the server which should give you most of your changes. Don't transfer the config files.

Any settings stored in the database will have to be done on the new cart since you're not transfering the existing database info to the server.
