Fake order - how to make registration impossible?

Well, I have just got my first order - fake one. How do I know? The custome's name is Gsdsfr, address - the same, false email "[email protected]". Payment method - Western Union. I am going to remove this option, of course. But I am wondering why people are doing it? Are they idiots or they want to test how the shop works or they just want to irritate others? I cannot understand it.
BTW, is there any way to make registration or placing order impossible if "customer" uses not existing email address?

All of the above... For some people it is a bit like physical shopping and putting everything on layby... never to return.

You can set the default "CustomerDetails/Customer Approval Status" to 3.

Just remember to verify and appove them ASAP.

There are probably other methods too.

Well, I think I will leave it like it is because sometimes I am not able to approve ASAP. It just so frustrating when you are bother by such a stupidity.

Unfortunately the world is not as it seems "well flat anyway" and you will find that there are many people out there who want to "screw you over" when it comes to online shopping. Luckily it is not high but you have to be street savvy so to speak regardless of your orders.

You as the retailer or your site owner needs to be aware about "charge back" where the buyer can make a complaint or similar to the bank or CC supplier and have their payment reversed so your bank account will be automatically debited. The customer will have the goods plus the payment. End result you loose and then have to chase the customer.

Here is an example
It is illogical when a person purchases a product from you and it is made in China so there is no reason why it should not be available in there own country. Why would they be buying from little old you. Many of these peoples purchases are small in value but they are hitting lots of other sites worldwide.
Once you contact your CC fraud department it becomes clear why would a CC number be in the hands of a person purchasing online and they are in another country from where the card is issued.

I would say don't be offended as you may one day be doing the same on somebody elses site to see how their checkout works/looks/feels to get ideas for your site. I know it is frustrating to know that gobblegook is in your customers tables and order tables but if they don't place the order usually they well go as far as possible before abandoning. It is easy to delete the gobblegook but harder to find the "real" fake customers. At least they were not presenting the order as a valid order. :)

I don't either but I think it was a "safe" no buy in that you would have had to gotten payment before you sent out. I can understand how frustrating it is for junk orders to be placed though....
