modify categories/sub categories pages

Hi can anyone suggest how I could go about modifying the categories and sub category pages as I want to add an image and keyword text.

I am using a modified template based on classic and zen 1.3.9b

Not sure exactly what you're asking. Which pages do you want to add the images and text to ? 'Category page' means different things to different people.

If ALL you want to do is add an image and text you can turn off the center column subcategory display in Admin>Configuration>Product Listing down at the bottom. Then you could make the category image large and add a category description.

That's not the best solution and wont be a solution at all if that's not what you need, but I don't know how to edit the category pages :(

I have six categories and say for example 12 sub categories. When I click on a category it then lists the sub categories within a specific category, including images and appropriate links. I want to add keyword text underneath the subcategory lists, at present it just exists of images and links to sub categories. The rest is bare...Hope that makes sense?
