complicated question not sure where to post

im using 1.3.8a and ive had a few problems installing some features in the past. i had installed supertracker at one time but somehow something got messed up and i could view the reports it gave but not the options part where i could change the settings. ive also tried to install google checkout without success and now that i have uninstalled it there are still traces of GC showing up in the admin section..

i guess my question is is there anyway to "start over" or clean the crud out of the DB where it wont show up and leave traces anymore? ive got >800 customers that have their info stored in the DB and id like to not lose everything if i can help it. thanks in advance for any help!

The answer is 'yes,but....'

You want to work on the database directly. The usual way to do this is by a utility called phpMyAdmin (there are others but this is the one that most hosting provide). Usually, it is accessed through the control panel of your hosting. It is pretty easy to use and there are lots of tutorials on-line.

The first thing to work out is how to back-up your database using phpMyAdmin. :smile: Do a back-up before doing any work on the database. Try and make this a habit. This is a really good thing to know how to do anyway and is worth the effort.

Then you need to find your way around the structure of the Zen Cart databases. There is information about that on the web but really it is like anything else and experience is going to help most. I suspect that the 'crud' you are talking about may be in the 'configuration' table but am only guessing as I don't know what crud is bothering you.

Beyond that, of course, if there is other stuff appearing in the admin menu then perhaps some files from the mods still exist. You need to understand the files in:

admin/boxes/

and in particular

admin/boxes/extra_boxes

Those are the ones that add items to the menus.

ive found the super tracker entry in the DB under zen_configuration_group but i cant find anything related to google checkout. it still shows up under the admin home page but ive yet to see anything in the DB relating to google. is there somewhere else i can look? google checkout isnt showing up in the admin/modules/payment either.

in the DB there is no admin/boxes

under zen_admin there is only 1 entry containing the admin info for username and email address

Peek in:
/admin/includes/boxes

to see where the boxes are that build the menu and how additional components can be added ...

Note: altering or removing the boxes does not clean up the database ...

i dont see anything in the boxes section about GC either. this is what i see on the admin page..

the mod was supposed to be completely uninstalled.. :(
