Help choosing payment gateway for zen cart

Hello everyone

I'm having a big of trouble choosing a payment gateway...

Reasons for not using the built in modules:
PayPal is not liked by internet shoppers according to my research, and also, I am just starting my business and £20 a month plus all the other costs seem a bit much.
If however I did end up using paypal, do they charge you the £20 at the begining or the end of each month?

authorize.net, well, I couln't find any prices even after searching the whole site.

other gateways:
Google checkout would be ideal if it wasn't for the fact that customers have to have a google account.

What I idealy need:
well, a free payment gateway would be nice :)
I need a payment gateway that accepts all major uk credit and debit cards,
one that does not require the customer to be signed up to them.
one with no set up or cancelation fees, or monthly payments, just transaction fees.

Not sure where you read about the £20 per month PayPal fee. As far as I know (and I have used PayPal for the past 3 years) there is no monthly fee for a business account and PayPal Express Checkout. The only fees incurred are the transaction fees.

Also, your customers do not need a PayPal account to pay by credit card :no: (even though PayPal would like them to open one ...)

Ye, the stuff i read about it being £20 a month, was for the paypal website pro, i didnt realise that when using the express checkout customers dont need to have an acount with paypal

i just finished installing the paypal express checkout module, and when testing it, i got taken to a page that says, either sign up or log in to your paypal account.

if you can set it so my customers dont have to have a paypal account, how do you do it?

In your paypal account under selling preferences make sure you have

PayPal Account Optional: On

if this is set to off then an account will be required.

i do have 2 more questions however sorry to be a bug.

When checking out with paypal express checkout, a lot of the details they ask i already have from when the customer registered, like there name and address etc, is there a way to get paypal to somehow find it?

also, in steps 2 and 3 of my checkout process there are paypal buttons and it says that the payment method is paypal, this isnt a problem, except i think it may be misleading to customers, they may think they have to have a paypal account, is this posible to change?

If they're going through the zen cart checkout process to get to the PayPal payment page then their billing address will already be entered.

If there is ever any text you want to change go to your Admin in zen cart and use Tools>Developers Tool Kit. Use the bottom field and click admin/catalog then search.

I believe the file you want is something like includes/modules/payment/paypalwpp
