Multiple Addresses stored for customers

I've searched through the forums and I'm not looking for the ability to have a customer ship to multiple addresses simultaneously, rather, within their account, store a mini address book of addresses they could pull from rather than retyping them every time.

I know someone will ask "Why?", well, the client I'm working on the ZC site for has a plant nursery and the clients who are purchasing aren't Joe Average Customer off the street, they're landscapers, gardeners, etc. who would likely be entering a shipping address for delivery to a job site, but they may have to re-use that same address in the future.

Any thoughts?

That's built in to Zencart, and you can limit the number of entries a customer can have in Admin - Configuration - Maximum Values, right at the top (default is 5).

The customer can add addresses in My Account, and if he changes the address during checkout, that address will be added to his address book.

This is nice to know, however, I have had it happen that a customer ends up with other customers under them for some reason...

What I mean is Customer A signs up and receives a download (done)... Customer B comes along and somehow ends up receiving their download only it looks as if Customer A has done it... Under my customers, Customer A now has 3 other people in their address book!

I emailed my customers to ask if they were having trouble and I got one response that said no, she only got 1 and downloaded...

Is this a glitch? I have V. 1.3.8 and was going to upgrade, but on reading all the instructions, I'm still lost... my host installed the 1.3.8 and so I made a new database, but am stuck there :( how to "install" it into the new database is beyond me... I'm too afraid to lose it all (yes, I made a backup).

Anyway, if this problem could be fixed it's my only issue right now.

My situation is a bit different. My client wants a site developed to handle the shipping of gift baskets. This works great when someone wants to order just a single gift basket. But business accounts often want to order multiple gift baskets. They have had some orders where the same gift basket was sent to over 50 different addresses. Then again other orders where different gift baskets were each sent to different ship to addresses.

How does Zen Cart handle multiple ship to addresses on the same order which also includes different items ordered.

Remember also that its very possible the the following scenario could also occur...

Item 1 Qty ordered 5 - Ship to Addresses 5

Item 2 Qty ordered 5 - Ship to Addresses 5

Item 3 Qty ordered 20 - Ship to Addreses 20

The above example master order would include a total of 30 items, each item shipped to a different address.

One method is to add to each Product their own shipping information by using the TEXT attributes ...

There is no testing on these TEXT attributes for accuracy, but it would give you the right address per Product where as the Shipping Address on the checkout_shipping only gives 1 shipping address per order ...

Otherwise, you would be stuck adding only Products per shipping address and that would require multiple orders to ship to all 12 of the company's staff members for Christmas ...

Hello, is it possible to have lots of additional addresses for the customer?

I have just taken a customer on who has approx 150 outlets throughout the UK and Ireland. Their head office places the order on my site and then chooses what outlet the order is delivered to.

Has anyone had experience of a high number additional customer addresses? Any problems?

They expect to have 200 outlets by the end of 2011, so is an unlimited amount possible? Or can I just set this amount to 300 say?

By default the limit on Addresses is 5 ... you can set this limit to anything you like in the Configuration ... Maximum Values ...
