Can't get out of maintenance mode after upgrading to 1.3.9d

I just upgraded from 1.3.8a to 1.3.9d. Before making the move, I put my site into maintenance mode.

I copied everything over, updated my database, and all that jazz. Then I turned off maintenance mode through my admin. But it had no effect, it still says:

NOTICE: The website is currently Down For Maintenance to the public

across the top of the site. I did confirm it's legitimately in maintenenace mode and not just an erroneous error message.

Has anyone seen this, or have any ideas what might be happening or what to look at?

Thanks,
TJ

To turn off Down For Maintenance you need to change the setting via Admin->Configuration->Website Maintenance.

If it's not saving your changes, then you need to fix the problems with your upgrade which are preventing you from saving changes. ie: re-compare all your files and fix whatever merges you didn't do correctly or whatever things your addons have broken.

Re: Can't get out of maintenance mode after upgrading to 1.3.9d

I'm a big fan of zencart and grateful for the support on the forum, but that answer was completely unhelpful. It's OK if you don't have an answer, or if you think I just haven't done due diligence, just say so. Telling me to go do a file compare on 10k files when I just finished doing a file compare on those same 10k files during the transfer is insulting and frustrating.

For anyone who runs into the same problem, I figured it out and will share my experience. It turns out that my /includes/configure.php file was read only (as we're told to do for security reasons). So when I copied the file back over to my new directory, it failed because it was read only. So my admin area was running out of my new Db but the site was running out of the old one. When I would go turn off maintenance mode, it was updating the wrong Db.

So, long story short, confirm your configure.php files have the correct (and same) Db. Check

/includes/configure.php
and
/<admin>/includes/configure.php

On a high note, I'm now at 1.3.9d and sooooo happy to be done with it.

No insult intended. But the problem could have been anywhere, so the answer was correct.

Nevertheless, I'm glad you found the solution to your particular situation.

So what your saying is that you didnt follow the upgrade directions and you want to come back at a developer telling him he was unhelpful

there was a file that was NOT compared ( config file )

just have to laugh when a user screws something up and then jumps on the people helping them

Ok off the soapbox
