Site Re-Do

Hi all,

I have decided to completely re-design my current website. To do so, I will do a completely fresh site and I may as well upgrade to the latest version of Zen at the same time.

However, if I create my site in the latest version and point it at the old MySQL database, will it function correctly or is there something else I will need to do?

Thanks,

Kevin

Re: Site Re-Do

You would have to upgrade your database to be compatible with the current version of Zen Cart.

Thanks for that kuroi. I've got it working now and the database is upgraded.

I just have one question about the admin area... It lists the controls for addons that aren't installed anymore. Is there any way to remove them easily?

I've attached a photo of the bits I want to remove.

Thanks,

Kevin

Re: Site Re-Do

To remove them hover over each in turn and look at the gID value that shows in your browser's status bar usually bottom left).

When you've got a list of the ones you want gone, backup your database. I'll say that again, backup your database.

Then for each gID run the following SQL in the Admin > Tools > Install SQL Patches window

DELETE FROM configuration WHERE configuration_group_id = nn;
DELETE FROM configuration_group WHERE configuration_group_id = nn;replacing nn by each gID.

It's powerful stuff, so tread carefully.
