Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

I updated this mod again today. Please look for it in the downloads section in next 24-48 hours.

The current download works well and this updated version will allow users to better utilize and maintain their db's with added fields for group pricing and special pricing.

What group pricing users can do is set their group pricing levels item by item using a standard opensource spreadsheet and more easily update your db.

Example

Group Price level A
Product 1234 - $12.99
Discounted Special Price A - $4.25
Group Price level B
Product 1234 - $12.99
Discounted Special Price B - $4.75
etc...

If you use percentages then using the spreadsheet of choice you do a simple formula to determine price, calculate all the prices and then special paste the value into the respective field and you have mass updated the pricing.

This EZ Pop version is perfect for all Group Pricing and NON group pricing sites using 1.3.9d. For NON group price users you will simply have a few more columns in your up and download which would remain empty. Or you could install Group Pricing 1.3.3 and not use its added functions.

If you are a retailer looking for a way to have memberships or other discount groups that allow "better" customer a greater discount then this coupled with GP 1.3.3 is a simple and seamless solution.

Cheers!

Re: Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

Hi Jimmy,

I installed the module but got an error when uploading a file.
I spent hours searching for the solution, but perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place.
How do I fix the following error?

An SQL error has occured. Please check your input data for tabs within fields and delete these. If this error continues, please forward your error log to the Easy Populate maintainer

In the debug.txt was the following:

MySQL error 1054: Unknown column 'p.products_group_a_price' in 'field list'

Re: Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

The answer is...

You did not install the group pricing sql file. This error indicates that you are not a group pricing module user thus the columns involved are not in your DB. What the error says is that you don't have those columns thus an error.

Or you may be running an older version of Group Pricing...

Either way install the sql patch labeled accordingly and then this sql patch and the error will not exist.

I added the extra sql files for folks not using GP so that anyone can use it.

I will also note same on forums so anyone having problems will know.

Normally I am faster to reply... go away and all hell breaks lose:)

Re: Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

Feeling plain stupid right now for not installing all the sql files.
I don't get the error now, but the imported testproduct isn't visible in the catogory.
Where can I fix that?

Re: Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

What I'd do is download your inventory and then add a new item based on the columns shown. A million times the answer is something is misplaced or not listed.

The other thing to verify is your import to make sure all is "green" v "red" a red one means problem.

Also to upload new products using EZ Pop you MUST have a model number associated with your new entry or it will NOT upload.

To figure out what model number to use simply sort your db by model number column and use next highest number or some other system you prefer.

Make sure you do not duplicate model numbers as you will lose your mind if you do that. I did it once for a few hundred SKU's and didn't realize for a week and lost loads of business. We all do stupid things all the time. PM me or whatever anytime

OH... and by red and green I mean you should have a HUGE list of green entries on your page after your upload. As many green entries as you have SKU's. If you don't have any then likely you have a permissions problem on your tempEP file preventing proper upload

Re: Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

Salvation at last

When I use v_products_name_1 and leave v_products_name_2 empty, the product won't show up.

BUT when i use only v_products_name_2 the product pops up and everything is working fine.

Does it has something to do with me using a non-English version (Dutch for me) and therefore need to use the v_products_name_2
?

As for the rest: many thanks for your help Jimmy (and keeping me out of hell for that matter!)

Re: Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

Do you mean categories name 2? I only see one products name. I can check the code as maybe I don't use the other field myself.

If you mean categories your product will be drilled down more and more based on number of subcategories. So if a product has 4 levels of categories it will only show under that fourth level and none of the prior levels. To have it show all steps along the way you simply create 1,2,3,4 etc entries with identical model number each with a different sequence of categories. This allows you to list one product in an unlimited number of categories and yet it still sells as one SKU for sales and inventory purposes.

Not sure what attributes folks need. I can certainly add in whatever is needed but I myself don't use attributes so I am unsure where to start on that modification. I already have a tested version with UPC and Sort which will post to downloads soon. Let me know if that is what you are after.

Re: Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

in my file it says product name 1 and also product name 2 (and desrciption 1 and discription 2)
Perhaps it's due to installing a new language.

As for the attributes... I'm still figuring that one out.

Re: Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

Well that you have two entries has got to be an issue as I didn't write name 1 and 2 and descrip 1 and 2 into this EZ Pop version. I certainly can...

Is description one in english and descrip 2 in another language? If not what is the reason for the two names and two descriptions? I can't think of a valid one off top of my head other than if german load 2 if english load 1 if russian load 3 etc...

As to uploading data I can't see why the language used would matter. Pretty sure that is controlled by the actual db table and how it is coded.

Did you have to load a language module or anything to do a second language. I have done zero research on that subject but if you point me toward how you did it I can figure the answers out.

Re: Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

your install is not complete in some manner. You need to follow instructions to the letter. In this case I'd say you maybe didn't remove your current EZ Pop version so the "new" settings are not showing yet. Or you failed to copy over a file.

How can I up/download my attributes?

Regards,

:censored:

I think I can safely say you can forget about attributes with easy populate. I've spend 10's of hours finding a way to download products with attributes (pricing, colour, size etc). The attribute file that easy populate produces is complete garbage and is utterly useless. storemanager another product produces more useable data but all attributes are stored in one field making them pretty much useless as you would have to write a complex script to re-arrange the data into a acces/excel usable format. This is one of the major failures and headaches of the zencart system having to use attributes and that lack of support from third party software.

But please if anyone thinks otherwise and has a solution i'd rip my own arm off to know.

Re: Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

Wait I've just found this new program which is incredible and free and a doodle to install automatic!
its called apsona available at apsona.com
you can export fully readable attributes in .csv format
I strongly recommend this to anyone wishing to mass update their attributes controlled store

Re: Easy Populate 1.3.9.GP

Is there also a possibility of adding categorie images thru easypopulate? If I get .csv file from wholesaler there're categorie images in the list but easypopulate doesn't seem to drop them into my store
