Some pages not loading completely

I am running Zen Cart 1.3.8. The host just recently moved the website from one server to another and now there are some parts not working. My assumption is that not all of the files were brought over but I can't determine what I'm missing especially since some pages work and some don't.

Please help me figure out what files I'm missing!

There are two pages where the content stops loading after the category image. One of these is a subcategory and one is a top level category. Both have products that should be displaying below the category image as well as the footer should load.

Here is a link to the one page that isn't loading:
http://www.lumierekids.ca/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=8
The other category that isn't working is 'sleepsacs' -> 'warmer sleepsacs'.

Thanks so much for any help!

Re: Some pages not loading completely

the fist time i clicked on that link i got a server error, i refreshed and link worked

The other issue of the page not seeming to load, have you check that there is a product within that catagory and that the product is enabled? it looks like it has no product to display, have a look at your catagory description to see if it matches what you are seeing on screen, what might be loading is the description data for your catagory

Re: Some pages not loading completely

Thanks Rob,
Yes, I verified that there are products that should be appearing in that category. There should also be a footer at the bottom with ez-pages links etc.

Re: Some pages not loading completely

i think you have issues with your server, on the initial visit to your site i get an error (500) but when i refresh its fine and all links work, if i try a different browser it does the same, error page, but then after a refresh it all works fine again

it did the same earlier today when i visited from work

the error im getting is an internal server error 500 - this will be something either your host needs to look into or you could have some damaged files, which might explain your page not loading properly

Re: Some pages not loading completely

Hi there,

I am also experiencing a similar problem.

I am running version 1.3.8, the pages are not rendering correctly, the content that should appear in the white space (middle of the page) is not showing up, unless the user refreshes the pages multiple times.

Here is the site:

Home Page - http://trinity-homes.net

Please try clicking on a couple of different links e.g. House Plans. The site seems quite temperamental, sometimes pages load other times they fail to load.

I believe the issue may be a hosting issue but my web host (Liquid Web) is having trouble identifying the issue.

I am starting to wonder if I should switch hosting companies.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

James

Re: Some pages not loading completely

You will notice, if you click on Featured Products you will see the middle ...

If you click on New Products you will break ...

If you click on Featured Products and sort by New to Old you will break ...

When you go to the New Products page, it indicates that there should be 2 Products ... edit these two products and turn them off ...

Does your site stop breaking?

Check the Products and see if you have something in the products_description ...

Also, get the Debug Tool from the Free Software Add On and see what error messages you are getting ...

Re: Some pages not loading completely

Have you recently added any changes such as Image Handler or some other add on?

Multiple attempts to refresh a bad page will sometimes fix this problem when on a half dead page ...

Question is, what is tripping the problem in the first place ...

Re: Some pages not loading completely

Hi Linda,

Thanks for the notes.

I have been trying to figure out the issue with my hosting company and so far we have not been able to find the root of the problem.

In some cases the images in the white space on the home page simply do not appear.

I did have a programmer working on the site recently which is when the errors started.

I made him aware of the page load/rendering issue and here is what he said:

"James,

I see what you mean. It looks like a hosting/database issue. For Zen to render the pages, it reads the page code, connects to the database to pull in the appropriate info and then renders the page.

The fact that it does load tells us it's functional. Plus I haven't done anything one the site is a few days and the work I did wouldn't have affected the above mentioned process. I made specific changes to some pages and settings, nothing site wide.

I'd suggest either they check with there host and/or see if it clears up on its own.

Thanks,
Jim"

We still have not been able to find out what is causing this - but any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

James

MGmore

I'm suspicious of the fact that the mainWrapper has no closing div, the mainWrapper content table has no closing table, and the centerColumn has no closing div.

Looks like somebody left off the bottom of a product display AND the whole footer.

You need to load the debug and let it tell you what's going on.

Re: Some pages not loading completely

Hi guys,

Thanks for all of your help.

The issue I believe has been resolved. I pointed my programmer to your posts and the comment about the Image Handler triggered something.

He had installed Image Handler 2, which appeared to be the root of the problem. He mentioned that he had never had never had a problem with Image Handler 2 before, however, since he removed neither of us have noticed the page loading/rendering problem.

Thanks again

Best Regards,

James

Re: Some pages not loading completely

My issue also has to do with Image Handler 2, I believe. I went through all of the products and disabled them then, one by one, I enabled them and there are a few products that are causing the issue.
I'm going to re-enter those products that are causing the problem and see if that will help.

To those who commented and helped - thanks so much!

Check your image filenames to make sure you don't have any special characters in them.

General rule of thumb is no spaces and only _ or - in the name.

Watch out for capitalized extensions as that sometimes causes a problem as well.

I advise clients to use something like image_MassiveWidgetPhoto.jpg
