Remove gv balance from customer

A customer entered a gift certificate code during checkout, but she didn't realize that all this did was to add it to her account. She paid for the order, but the gift cert was not applied. I would like to refund the amount of the gift certificate, but will need to remove this amount from her account. Is there a way to do this?

There is no built-in way to remove GV balances from customers.
The fastest and simplest way would be for you to have her login to her account, then go to her My Account page, then click on the SEND GV option and send you (with your email address) the amount of the GV you want to reduce from her balance.
It will immediately be removed from her account and then you can just delete the email, or whatever you choose to do.
