Installing Zencart with Installatron (or Fantastico)
As a Newbie, just thought I'd share my experiences, if only to save others from countless waisted hours and much frustration.:censored:
Setting up Zencart v1.3.9c with Installatron takes only minutes. Upgraded to 1.3.9d in seconds.:clap:
Sounds too easy: until I tried installing Easy Populate, firstly 1.2.5.7CSV then tried 1.2.5.4, but neither showed up under Admin-Tools. Also, langer=install nor langer=remove did anything. Spent hours and hours trying different things and searching the Forum + net for answers but to no avail.
Another problem was moving the site to another folder. Without going into too much detail, followed instructions: changing 2x configure files, used fix_cache utility etc. but could no longer log into Admin.
Suspected Installatron to blame as others on the Forum had no problems and I was sure I was installing EP correctly, so downloaded Zencart from the Zencart site. It was a little bit more work in setting up, but afterwards, I installed EP CSV in minutes and all was working fine.
So glad that I found these problems out now rather than after building site.
So in my experience, albeit short, I would not recommend using Installatron for installing Zencart.:no:
Has anyone else had similar or other problems, or even perhaps success using these auto-install programs?
