Can I Alter All Email Text And Links To Point to my Support Desk?

HI, am trying to edit the welcome email text in includes/language/english/create account

define('EMAIL_CONTACT', 'For help with any of our online services, please email the store-owner: <a href="mailto:' . STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS . '">'. STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS ." </a>\n\n");

i want it to show for example

For help with any of our online services please open a Support Ticket (support ticket will be a link to my help desk eg.
please open a <a href="https://my-site.co.uk/tickets/index.php">Support Ticket</a> )

how would i accomplish this i tried changing it to this

define('EMAIL_CONTACT', 'For help with any of our online services, please please open a <a href="https://my-site.co.uk/tickets/index.php">Support Ticket</a>\n\n");

but it didn't work, i know am close but just cant get there,

also how could i change all the contact email from eg [email protected] to open a support ticket this would again need to be a link to my support desk like above.

All the links in my admin are defined from the store default email address eg [email protected] , i need all these to point to my support desk.

hope some one can help

regards
dave

Re: Can I Alter All Email Text And Links To Point to my Support Desk?

You can get into trouble with code if you're not familiar with the layout.:yes:
The original line looks like> define('EMAIL_CONTACT', 'For help with any of our online services, please email the store-owner: <a href="mailto:' . STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS . '">'. STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS ." </a>\n\n");
STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS is automatically picked out of the database to be used. What's important is the layout of the single quotes (') that separate the variables from the html.

See if this won't work.> define('EMAIL_CONTACT', 'For help with any of our online services, please please open a <a href="https://YourSite.co.uk/tickets/index.php">support ticket</a>.');

Hi,
thanks for that it works perfect, do i need to do the same in admin/includes/language create_account also

and can you tell me how to change the disclaimer text

define('EMAIL_DISCLAIMER_NEW_CUSTOMER', 'This email address was given to us by you or by one of our customers. If you did not signup for an account, or feel that you have received this email in error, please send an email to %s ');

instead of "please send an email to %s"

"please open a support ticket"

regards
dave

Re: Can I Alter All Email Text And Links To Point to my Support Desk?

hi ,
update ,i am slowly getting there

i have now sorted this out by following your answer in the above post regarding single quotes (')

define('EMAIL_DISCLAIMER_NEW_CUSTOMER', 'This email address was given to us by you or by one of our customers. If you did not signup for an account, or feel that you have received this email in error, please send an email to %s ');
instead of "please send an email to %s"

"please open a support ticket"

MY Main Concern IS - i really do need my customer to reply to any email sent from our store by opening a support ticket, i do not want them replying to order confirmation , order update emails etc, eg sent from [email protected] we can then keep a log of all support requests

is there anyway i can hide were the email was sent from and direct them to our support suite.

regards
dave

Why can't you just change all your store's addresses to send "from" your support ticket address?

hi thanks for your valid point, but my support email address would be [email protected] and i would end up with order confirmations going to my support desk which i don't really want, if i change the email address to [email protected] people would just reply to the order confirmation sent from [email protected].

i need the store to send them an order confirmation email that they cannot respond to unless they open a support ticket.

hope i have explained myself

regards
dave

Re: Can I Alter All Email Text And Links To Point to my Support Desk?

Personally I hate that approach. I loathe having my emails automatically create a support ticket -- it feels like I'm being handled by a computer, and not by a real person who wants to take an active interest in the concern I have. And I also hate when I send an email completely unrelated to any "issue" that then gets turned into a ticket to forever log the discussion that had no business ever being treated as a support matter ... such as a "thanks for the free gift" message or such. It's just plain stupid to then later see that in the list of tickets I've opened.

But, you seem to want to treat your customers with tickets. So, in the same screen that I mentioned before, change your "email-from" address to your support-ticket email address, and then all emails will be "sent from" that address. You can still leave all your other "extra emails" addresses set to whatever you like, including your order-confirmation duplicates.

Re: Can I Alter All Email Text And Links To Point to my Support Desk?

I agree with the Doc and hope you will reconsider. If you Google "poor support", you will find about 237,000,000 results.:no:

There's been discussion elsewhere in the forum about the pros and cons of looking like a big business or small business. I would think the #1 thing to not do for either is to have a support ticket. People just hear or see support ticket and they think one word....

IGNORE.

To be honest i never really looked at it like that.

i wasn't trying to treat my customers like a computer, i was just trying to give the best support option i could , were i would have a log and so would the customer, but point taken and i will explore a different approach.

thanks for your replys
