Product BUY NOW button does NOTHING, but ...?

I just noticed on my products the BUY NOW button does NOT do anything, doesn’t go to a link or order page ? If I click the image it does but the BUY NOW button does not work????

To make matters worse, if someone hits the BUY NOW button for a product, nothing happens, BUT the Order count keeps going UP, so by the time they have figured out to click the image, the product says SOLD OUT because they hit the BUY NOW button and it registered a sale in their shoppig ncart, even though it never went to the Order page.

ROFLMAO ... SOLD OUT! that's impossible unless you've got some sort of addon installed that immediately buys AND PAYS FOR a product just from clicking on a buy-now button ...... which is something Zen Cart NEVER does ... at least, unless you've done major customizations to make it do that. A product can't get marked as sold-out unless orders are actually placed against it ... or unless you, the administrator, mark it as sold-out.

So ... I'm guessing your problems are related to addons. In which case, it's time to go re-evaluate all of them and figure out which one is breaking everything on you.

Buy now puts things in the shopping cart for me - using firefox

Now hit the BUY NOW button for the Sherlock Holmes lobby card
Sherlock Holmes "Secret Weapon. Hit it 4 or 5 times. Unless it is an issue with my version of IE 8.0.7, you should still be on the same page with a grid of products. Now hit the image for the lobby card. And look at the number of Quantity in Cart, I right now have 6. Even though. only ONE is available. So as soon as you hit Add to Cart to order oyu get a RED Sold Out message

Something's wrong with your so-called SEO addon:

Too many redirects occurred trying to open “http://www.cvtreasures.com/shopping_cart/search_in_description/1/keyword/sherlock%20holmes/sherlock-holmes-secret-weapon-movie-poster-lobby-card-p-2067?sort=20a”. This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page.

Further, the "sold out" message is a result of alterations you've made to the "insufficient stock" message such that you call it Sold Out when the person adds more of that product to their cart than you have on-hand.
It's not actually "SOLD OUT", but rather that's merely what you've told the cart to tell your customers when they try to buy more than you have on hand.

The original text reads like this: > Products marked with *** are out of stock.

Items not in stock will be placed on backorder.
And, since you've disabled their ability to edit the quantity they've put in their cart, you give them no way to fix the problem other than to completely remove the item from their cart and then go find it again somewhere in your store so they can add it back again.

Those are all things that are definitely going to hurt sales.

But, adding to cart using the buy-now button seems to work fine from my end, other than the issues I've stated above. Tested in Safari and Firefox on a Mac.

That showed up on a blank page in my browser as it was attempting to take me to the next page after clicking on the more-info button.

Yes. You've changed settings to make that happen, because the default in a new install of Zen Cart is to not prevent editing of cart quantities and also to not prevent checkout when the qty in cart is greater than qty on hand.
Admin->Catalog->Categories/Products->edit the product->"Product Quantity Box Shows" ---- The default is YES, but you're using NO.
