Show featured etc only on sub-categories?

I'm having a hard time getting this to work...

What I want is to show the new, featured and/or upcoming products when you click on a category with subcategories. Right now I only get the subcategory images, and that looks a bit naked.

When I turn them on in admin (Show Featured Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories), I get them to show up, but they also show up on main page where I do not want them to be as I have the category images there and all these boxes are overkill.

Please advice?

If I understand, turn off the first four options in Admin - Configuration - Index Listing. Those only apply to the main page.

That's just the thing... it doesn't work. :)

Not that deep, I have top level, category, subcategory and then products, at the most.

Could you post the settings that you are using for the Configuration ... Index Listing ... it sounds like something is not configured correctly ... :unsure:

Honestly, I think there's something wrong with the template, I cannot get the cross sell box to show either..?

If you switch to the Classic Template what happens?

Do you have an URL and Category where this is happening?
