changing color and size of text in sideboxes

I have a coupe questions, First bare with me as I just installed firefox, and web developer, and firebug but am learning how to use them :)

How do you change the color and font size in only the side boxes? (Categories, More Info, etc.)

Also, I would like to make the left hand side boxes all run together or look like they do. Meaning I don't want any white spacing between them. Is this possible?

I also want to add a top bar with page links below the main header, similar to that of the darker bar above the banner.

I want to give my category sideboxes a really custom look is there an easy way to achieve this?

Lastly, if you look at my bread crumbs bar and my left category sidebox, the breadcrumbs bar is encroaching on my category box, what is causing this and how do I remedy it?

for reference my site: https://www.mercenarypb.com

You should be designing in FireFox and with the extentions
web developer
ardvark or firebug

This will allow you to identify the tags that you can look for in your stylesheet
As you only want the text in the sideboxes to be alteres and they share a global setting you have to define this for each box or group of boxes

I also want to add a top bar with page links below the main header, similar to that of the darker bar above the banner.
Add a div with the links you want to a copy of tpl_header.php
Add it within the headerwrapper div and last in order

It was white when I vewed so you must have fixed this

You also need to optimize your images for the web
One thumb I checked was 1304.72 KB in size
Where a browser can only 72dpi you are using bandwidth that becomes usless
It also will drive potential customers away as your pages load too slowly and for no worthwhile reason

Thank you for the input. I have never dealt with CSS before, so I am trying to figure out how to separate global settings, any help with that would be appreciated.

As for the top menu, I have inserted an image to the top under the header, but how do I get the links to lay over the .jpg image? I added <div>'s to the TPL_Header but I think I am doing something wrong.

Get Firefox & the extentions

I have firefox, web developer, and firebug. But can I add elements to the page with those. I don't see how I can add a link to my top bar...
