I'm getting the exact problem duplicated as "docdalek" in his August 10, 2010 post.
Error reads,"SGS-002301: Charge total must be the sum of subtotal, tax, value added tax, and shipping."
Also confirmed is a one penny difference between the "chargetotal = 767.05" and the addition of three separate items,
"subtotal = 699.00 / shipping = 11.24 / tax = 56.82".
I read DrByte's comment about this being peculiar (Aug 21,2010) and I have this thought to offer. Most orders go through. I suspect that in New York State (which is where the error occasionally occurs and where this business is located) with over 2,500 different sales tax percentages to apply that the instance of a one penny discrepancy (rounding up) happens more frequently.
The bad part is that a sale was lost. The customer tried twice to make the sale go through. We were fortunate the customer contacted the company. That's how we new it was not just a rejected or fraudulent credit card but a real sale gone sour.
Now I'm asking for help with a solution. I see above that DrByte offers a sort of fix but has there been any better solutions or fixes since then?
I have employ the above solution but does that mean that on every sale the client will only see one lump sum (of item, tax, and shipping all together)? Please let me know. It there's one lump sum this could lead to a problem of mistrust by the customer.
Many thanks for your help.
I'm not sure how to prove out this solution. How can I recreate the same sale from the same location (incurring the same tax for the same item and have it passed to linkpoint)? Don't quite know how to do this as a dummy sale.
