2 quick (hopefully) css questions

ok, hopefully we have easy answers here...

  1. hover/link colors are different in my front page 'main' box than they are anywhere else. when i hover in the main box "welcome to custom k9 design..." links are white. elsewhere they are shades of blue. why is this box not being 'commanded' by the a:hover command in the css?

  2. my categories on the left side are wider ONLY on the main page. this is noticable in that you can see the red category button that is part of the same image hanging off the edge of the blue one on the main page (about 2-3 pixels worth) but when you get down into the categories, the box is the correct width. why is the left column a different width only on the main page?

thanks!!

Suggest you correct some HTML Validation errors then see where things are.
