HTMLarea editor not showing paragrahps

Hi,

I am using version 1.3.8, building www.blackorangevintage.com. I am trying to add text for the Privacy, Delivery and Terms and Conditions Policies. Example, I have added the Shipping text to Notepad, and then pasted it into Tools / Define Pages Editor / define_shippinginfo.php. The text is dispalyed fine although the line spacing seems to be a bit out.

I then tried to do the same with my Privacy Policy, however now I do not get the correct line spacing and paragraphs any longer. Tried to look on the forum but couldn't find anything that could help. Any suggestions on how can add and edit text with the correct format?

Also, once the text has been added, whenever I try to change it (even just changing a word), I save it, but then when I review the page, all the formatting is gone with no paragraphs.

Is there any reason that you are using a very out dated version of Zen Cart? The current version is v1.3.9e ... :unsure:

I would really recommend redoing your site in v1.3.9e as either a clean install and add your products back in or as an upgrade ...

The version that you are using has many Known Bugs and Security Issues that to update those would take longer than to just do the Clean install and read your products or upgrade your site ...

Concern is that many of the add ons I have may not be compatible with the new version so would prefer not to upgrade. :oops: Lets say 1.3.9 was not available, and I have to work with 1.3.8. Why would the info display correct on 1 page, but not on another page? What recommendations are there for fixing this?

OK, so I have now uploaded the new zen cart (1.3.9), and am busy rebuilding the site from scratch to see what is happening. http://www.blackorangevintage.com. unfortunately, the text issue remain. the customer sent the text in word, i copied and pasted to notepad, then pasted into the main page, and surprise, no paragraphs! any idea why this is happening to me, no matter what version i am working with? please help!:frusty:

MS Word puts a ton of proprietary code into text formatting, and it may not display correctly in non-MS applications. You need to have your customer send plaintext, or convert it yourself, to remove all extraneous non-HTML tags.

If your problem is that there is no formatting in the output, how are you putting the formatting in? You need to either use an HTML editor or add the HTML tags yourself.

OK, managed to figure this out. The HTMLerea editor is not very good, and keeps messing up text. It will show it correct when you first add it, but when you try to go back and edit text, it removes the formatting again. Just uploaded (http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=268) on my version 1.3.9, and it's working! Hope this helps anyone else that have the same problem.
