Images with similar image name are showing in wrong products

I don't know exactly why this is happening, but when I add a product and name the image for that product _ninja.jpg everythign works fine. The product description page is fine.

However, when I add another product and name the image for that product _ninjastar.jpg the product image for this item shows up as an additional image for the product mentioned above.

I had this same issue with other products on my site red.jpg but then every other product image that started with "red" showed up as additional images.

What is causing this to happen, and is there an easy fix? Here is a link to the product with image named _ninja.jpg that is doing the this:

http://mercenarypb.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_32_141&products_id=421

and here is the link to the product listing for the _ninjastar.jpg listing:

http://mercenarypb.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_32_141&products_id=420

help is appreciated!

Re: Images with similar image name are showing in wrong products

Both products are sharing the same root name: _ninja(something).jpg
If you want them to be distinctly different, make sure both have a unique base.

Re: Images with similar image name are showing in wrong products

I figured that much, but in my industry I have a lot of products with similar names, just the colors are different.

For instance 10 jerseys that are all "(SameName)_Color" what do you advise for these?

Re: Images with similar image name are showing in wrong products

If they all have a "_Color" suffix, then there won't be any duplication.
But if you have a product with a primary image named (SameName) and then a different product with an image named (SameName)something, then you're going to have a problem.

If you're going to use similar names, make sure all of them have a suffix, not just some of them.

Either that, or turn off all Additional Image support altogether, and live with having only one image per product.
