Cannot email Gift Certificate

I have a customer who is pretty ticked off because she can't forward her gift certificate to the intended recipient. I have tested this myself and verified that the following error appears:

'Whoops! Sorry, but you are not allowed to perform the action requested.
You are still logged in to your account and may continue shopping. Please choose a destination from a menu.'

I am using Zen version 1.3.8a. I don't have any customizations or anything I would consider "unusual". This is the first time anyone has tried to email a GC so the problem has probably always existed, just hasn't been discovered until now.

I believe this might be an issue with shared SSL, if that helps anyone. Private SSL is not an option for us right now.

Now I know it has something to do with the SSL. I disabled it and the function now works. Anyone???
