Upgrade first or change host first?

Dear all,

I am going to change hosting as well as upgrade my cart from 1.3.8.

What is the proper sequence? change hosting first or upgrade first?

Can't say about proper, but I would setup the new cart on the new host keeping the old in place till I was ready to switch over.

Clean host, clean start. And, a good opportunity to learn what might have been patched versus fixed in the old.:yes:

If your new host is using a newer version of PHP, then you'll want to do your upgrade FIRST. Then make sure it's all working fine on the old host before you move to the new host.

Whatever you do, do only one or the other at a time. Either complete the upgrade and make sure it's working fine afterwards, and THEN move. Or do the move, make sure it's all working fine, and THEN upgrade.
