Is what you are asking how to make the page background another color? If so you go to the stylesheet.css file in your template and look for:

BODY {
  font-family: Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
  font-size: 10px;
  margin: 0px;
  color: #FFFFF1;
  background-color: #080808;
}

Change the background color to something like #ffffff which is white.

It's going to cause some problems. You won't be able to see the white text and you are going to want to add background colors to some of the elements.

No, i would like to make the background on the shoping cart image transperant.  (So you dont see the white on the image)

I removed the background on the image, however it seems not to be working. I was wondering if there was some issue with Gifs and transparent.

Whoooo, i did it, you have to "Run the optimiser" thing when you go Save as..

1). So, remove that background.
2). Select the image that you DONT Want to be transparent
3). Save As
4). Change type to GIF and then put the name, then click on Options.
5). Click Run Optimizer
6). Under Transparency Tab - select Outside the current Section.
7). Click OK.
