Sending E-Mail works except from admin/tools/send email

Good morning, all! I have been running 3.8a with e-mail archive viewer add on. My store has been running great for the past 3 years, or more. All the e-mails from the store work as does re-sending e-mail from the archive viewer.
My problem is that any e-mail that I generate from the admin/tools/mail.php doesn't "go". It does not show up in the archive viewer nor does it arrive at it's intended destination. Additionally, after I type the intended e-mail and click on send the "page" goes blank. Windows shows it is "done" but it just hangs there. The only way I can get back to it is to delete everything in the url window back to mail.php (deleting everything from the "?" to the end.

Here is my url prior to sending e-mail.
http://www.shopsbyron.com/catalog/admin/mail.php

Note that I have chenged the admin folder to protect the innocent.

Below is the url after typing the message but prior to clicking on send.

http://www.shopsbyron.com/catalog/admin/mail.php?action=preview

and below is the url after clicking on "send mail"

http://www.shopsbyron.com/catalog/admin/mail.php?action=send_email_to_user

I now am looking at a blank screen and nothing shows up in the e-mail archive viewer which shows the above "didn't happen.

I have tried replacing the mail.php file and have tried setting the attachments portion in the file to "false" but that made no difference.
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!! Especially if they/it work(s).

I do plan to upgrad to 3.9f in the next several days but would like to resolve this problem first.

I run a lot of add ons with the store all of which work but no e-mail add ons, except the archive viewer.

Thanks, Ron
