Can I move a 1.3.9d to 1.3.9f install?

Regarding the article on "I want to move my Zen Cart installation to another host or a different server" at https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=100, I currently have a working 1.3.9d and want to move it to another server (both on GoDaddy) where I installed a new 1.3.9f. I'm hoping the changes in these versions are minor and won't affect the move and that since they are both 1.3.9x, there won't be any issues.

Sorry about GoDaddy

You will have to move all the files of one version
Do not mix versions unless you know what you are doing

Re: Can I move a 1.3.9d to 1.3.9f install?

The instructions on the cited page say to install the same version, move the files, then upgrade later. I was hoping to avoid that since I already installed 1.3.9f on the new server.

By the way, should I have posted this in the upgrade section?

Re: Can I move a 1.3.9d to 1.3.9f install?

I may be wrong on this and could someone correct it if I am but according to the what I understand there is no need to update the database between 1.3.9d and 1.3.9f as per upgrade
instructions. So if you install 1.3.9f (empty database) you can take a data dump of the database that 1.3.9d is connected to and insert it into the database that 1.3.9f is
connected to.
There may be some configuration tweaks after this, but someone with abit more knowledge on the subject should be able to confirm if this will work.

Data dump?

Anyway, unless I hear something encouraging in the next hour or so, I'll uninstall the 1.3.9f and install 1.3.9d.

By the way, where do I find a copy of 1.3.9d to install?

Thanks.

All versions are available at Sourceforge; you just have to look deeper to find older versions. There is no need to do a 1.3.9e install/upgrade separately from upgrading to 1.3.9f, but you need to pay attention to all relevant changelogs.

Re: Can I move a 1.3.9d to 1.3.9f install?

Sourceforge has only 1.3.7, 1.3.8, 1.3.9 and 1.3.9f that I can see. No 9.d or 9.e. They do not have the minor revisions.

At this point I'm thinking I'm better off upgrading my 9d to 9f and then moving it to a new 9f install. Do you agree?

Thanks again for your help.

The minor revisions are under
All Files
CURRENT_ Zen Cart 1.3.x Series
Zen Cart v1.3.9 - Full Release <-----click here to see minors.

Upgrading now on a known server, and then moving, may be the best idea.

Re: Can I move a 1.3.9d to 1.3.9f install?

Been reading the upgrade instructions and posts on upgrading, it appears that the instructions are for major upgrades (8.x to 9.x) rather than 9d to 9f. Am I to understand that if I use the changelog as my guide, I basically just overwrite those specific files?

If I have to follow the full upgrade instructions and then the moving servers instructions it might be easier to start over, which is what I'm trying to avoid.

Would it be in my best interest to restate my question/goal in the upgrade forum?

Been there, the 1.3.x releases are 1.3.7, 1.3.8, etc., not 9d or 9e.

I must be missing something but I do not see instructions anywhere for this kind of an minor upgrade/bug fix, unless the only way to do it is to reinstall everything.

The only thing that makes sense it that I simply replace the files listed in the changelog.

If you click on "Zen Cart v1.3.9 - Full Release" in that list, the full list of minor releases appears below it. If you don't get this, perhaps you are looking in the wrong place?

Re: Can I move a 1.3.9d to 1.3.9f install?

gjh42,

Found it. I was expanding the wrong line.

Since the focus of this thread seems to have changed, I posted the following in the Upgrading from 1.3.x to 1.3.9 Forum:

I have found no specific instructions for a minor upgrade either in the 9f.zip or in this forum, in my case, from 9d to 9f. If I refer to the Changelog, can I simply replace the listed files as a patch to complete the upgrade?

Alternatively, can someone point me to the minor upgrade instructions I've overlooked?

I must be missing something but it seems I'm having to do a major overhaul when all I need is an oil change.

This is a continuation from what originated as a question about moving servers but now is focused on the upgrade process and I thought the answer to this would benefit others, as well as myself, so I'm posting it here.

Thanks!

For EVERY individual version (d to e, then e to f, etc), yes
AND REMOVE some as well
