1.3.8 Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f ??

After having used the zc_install I get a message in the Admin "version page". Its says:

Zen Cart 1.3.8
Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f

How do I get it to be fully upgraded?
And which steps should I make. Dont hesitate to be pedagogical as talking to a kid, as I am no wizkid in DB/PHP

Thanks in advance
Stefan

Re: 1.3.8 Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f ??

I havent found any information as of yet that shows which files I have to transfer, if any, from my 138 version to my 139f version.

I have 138 already up and running, and used zc_install and selected Database Upgrade 139f.

Now, I am uncertain if there are any settings I now have to make, files to transfer and so on.

I am currently reading, checking the file info in the docs folder, but cant find any such info - yet.

Any ideas, any suggestions, tips and so on?

Thanks in advance
Stefan

Re: 1.3.8 Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f ??

Zen Cart consists of two components: files and database.
The files are your PHP files, images, css, js, etc files accessed via FTP. You have to upgrade those manually yourself.
The database data is stored in the MySQL engine on the server, and is accessed via scripts like phpMyAdmin.

A Zen Cart upgrade consists of two parts: You manually upgrade the files yourself. And you use zc_install to upgrade the database.

Thus far you've only upgraded the database. You need to upgrade the files, by hand, before it will work as needed.

The whole process is documented in the /docs/ folder of the Zen Cart files, and is also explained here: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=98 (and in the links in that article)

Re: 1.3.8 Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f ??

Hi DrByte,

it now says in the admin page "version"

Zen Cart 1.3.8
Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f

And all my files and folders seems to be there since before, so at first it all looks okey. I am wondering if I have to do something more in regard to that info I get in the Admin version page

" Zen Cart 1.3.8
Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f"

Thanks in advance
Stefan

That confirms to me that you've not yet actually uploaded the new PHP files.
You need to merge the changes into the PHP files, and then upload the changed files to the server, as the documented instructions tell you to do.

Re: 1.3.8 Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f ??

Hi Dr Byte,
Promiss I have read the documentation, so I admit I might have missed something when reading it.

The new PHP files you mention are the php files I am looking after. I cant seem to find them.

For example when I read documentation upgrading from 138 to 139a I think I remember seeing reference in the documentation on which PHP files I hade to transfer over to the server. But now when I read the documentation for version 139f I dont find any reference to upgrading from 138 to 139f.

So I am in some sort of limbo here ;-)

As said I promoss I have read the documentation but I cant understand or find which exact PHP we are talking about, refereing to. I just checked the server and all the folders such as Include, Languages and so on have all the CUSTOM folder there. And excpet for the "down for maintainance" on my webshop right now, it all visually looks okey. But in the Admin log in page its that darn ;-)

"Zen Cart 1.3.8
Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f"

Thanks again in advance
Stefan

Re: 1.3.8 Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f ??

Lets make this cookie plate push-em simple ( Andy Bumatai reference )

You downloaded the zip file correct?
you unzipped the files on your PC correct?

Assuming that you did this you need to open the folder that you unzipped the zen cart files into ( same one where you got the database )

HOW did you upgrade the database?

How did you install the site?

Re: 1.3.8 Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f ??

Hi,

  1. Yes I first already have my 138 already up and running.
  2. I then downloaded the 139f.
  3. I FTP transfered the 139f full set on to my online server.
  4. I FTP transfered the zc_install (139f) to my online server.
  5. I whent to my Firefox Browser and from there used the zc_install.
  6. I choosed "Database upgrade" in the zc_install
  7. I FTP transfered all the folders and files from 139f to online server
  8. I checked so all my CUSTOM folders & files in them were intact on the online server
  9. I used Firefox Browser and deleted all cookies etc.
  10. I logged in to the online Admin page
  11. It still says

" Zen Cart 1.3.8
Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f"

Question: isnt there a button somewhere that I press to get it to accept 139f to only show up in the "version" page in the admin online page?

Thanks in advance
Stefan

Re: 1.3.8 Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f ??

Your admin version information will automatically update when you've properly uploaded the v1.3.9 files to the server.
Until now, you have not done that, even though you think and say you have.

Furthermore, your points 3 and 7 above are repeats of each other, which suggests you're not following the instructions properly.

Re: 1.3.8 Database Patch Level: 1.3.9f ??

Hi Dr. Byte,

No its not two repeats. Why?

Nr. 3 is the ...139f.ZIP file, the whole folder with the ZIP extension file.
Nr. 7 is all individual files and folders such as PHPs and so which I transfered via the FTP from my local computer over to my server online.

Could you advice me in what you think can be missed?
I really have transfered as much by hand it is possible, in a digital environment, each and every file and folder from my computer to the online server.

You yourself wrote somewhere that upgrading the database comprised of:
1, the sql file, phpmyadmin
(and via the browser using the zc_install)
2, all individual files and folders

So what am I missing.
English is my second language and if I am missing something please let me know what I might do wrong.

Thanks in advance
Stefan
