Featured Items on Main Page

I have a fresh install of v 1.3.9f

What am I missing here? My featured products are not showing up on the main page.

I have tried every value under admin>config>Index listing>Show Featured Products on Main Page

The designated products show up when I click "Featured Products..." on the categories sidebar on the store front.

I'm probably overlooking something completely obvious, but what do I need to do to get the featured products to come up on the main page?

We'll probably need to see the site. Are you using a custom template ?

I'm using the bluecart template (if anyone is familiar).

What happens if you switch temporarily back to the Classic template ?

Featured products do appear using the default template. I'm not committed to the BlueCart template by any means. If you have any ideas, I am all ears . . . if it isn't go to be easy to get it working correctly, I'll just use the default and play around with the CSS files.

That template has some stuff hard-coded in/out.

It doesn't really look all that different from the Classic template other than easily modified stuff like width, colors, etc., so I'd try rolling your own, based on Classic.

I think you're right. This might solve my issues with products with attributes stock, too.
