Showing available colours in product listing

Hello all,

I sell products that have different colours available, but instead of adding each different colour as a separate product, I was hoping that I would be able to show which colours are available through one listing?

By one listing, I mean when looking at the product in amongst others in it's cateogry (is there a term for that?). So for example, an iPhone case would be abvailable in blue, red and green. By just showing one an image with a particular colour in the category, people may (justifiably) think that's the only colour available. For the 'Bumple' case, I have used the orange image for the product listing in the category. However, I'd like to be able to have a small picture row/grid above the 'more info' text, with small images of the different colours available.

Yes, it would be possible but it would take a bit of new coding. So, it would depend on how fluent your php skills are.

It's a bit beyond a simple answer in the forum I am afraid.

Ah, I hadn't realised that it would be that complicated. I have practically no knowledge of PHP, so perhaps that's not the best thing for me to do.

Is there a way of just having an 'available in different colours' image next to it? I can see why the original idea would require coding though.... linking to attributes etc.

For a seasoned coder (like yourself I assume), would it be difficult to do?
