Uploading Photographic Images

The Zen cart version is: v1.3.9d.
However I am having trouble with photographic product images, not getting a clear colour definition, hazy, grey.
I have extended my remedies using Ulead Photo Express 4, but without satisfactory results.

I am looking for a clear professional picture.

Can anyone advise me please?
