---***--- downloads remaining

Ok last question I swear! I set each of the downloads to a max download of 1. However, I am able to download them unlimited number of times and when I check "my account" and view one of the past purchases to download again and again it always says ---***--- for the value of remaining downloads. Why is that? How can I enforce only a single download?

Could it be related to the fact that I chose Set Order Status as Processing [2] in the Authorize.net SIM payment module?

I am on a fresh install and running using: v1.3.9f. The server is in production mode, Authorize.net is in TestMode and I am using the SIM module. No addons, hosting with hostmonster and this is my first zen cart store.

I am selling songs for a single download and have set the attributes for the download as unlimited time and 1 for number of downloads. However when I log in and go to my account and view a purchased song, they always have ---***--- under the "downloads remaining" field and I can download them over and over again.

How can I enforce a single download?

How many days are you giving on the Download?

Under Catalog > Attributes Controller I use the following-

For the "Expiry days: (0 = unlimited)" I have 0 because I want them to be able to download the song one time no matter how long ago they made the purchase.

For the "Maximum download count:" I have 1 because I only want them to be able to download the song one time.

I dont see an "attempts" field =/

The only steps I went through are as follows-
I created products for each song changing only the title, price, description and set quantity to 9999 and added an image.

In the Option Name Manager I created a download type

In the Option Value Manager I created an option for each product with an order value of 1.

Uploaded the songs into the download folder

In the Attribute Controller I added the option name, value and file name for each product and "Expiry days: (0 = unlimited)" I have 0
For the "Maximum download count:" I have 1.

I then set server status to "Production".

I will make another server and see if it happens again.

Processing will make the Download immediately available after the order, so that should be fine ...

From what you are saying, you should only get the 1 download, once the Order Status is set to >= 2 or <= 4 ...

The default Order Status settings:
Pending = 1
Processing = 2
Delivered = 3
Updated = 4

Let us know how a new, test setup works for you ...

I can confirm this behaviour in 1.3.9h. Setting an unlimited timescale also sets the number of downloads to unlimited no matter what value is used in max downloads.

I have purchased software before and have appreciated the ability to re-download the file after a hard drive failure destroyed the local copy. Just being able to go to the site, login and grab a copy is much better than having to correspond with the vendor.

Accordingly I have set the period to 1095 being exactly 3 years. This ought to be enough...

Wow, thanx for that one. I had this same problem and it took a while to find this fix which worked perfectly. I even have another template loaded and this fix still worked. Downloads remaining code fix. Thank you!
