Can someone take a look at my site?

Hi there,

I am creating a Zen Cart for my work, and I can't get the header to appear.

I have redesigned and uploaded as the same file name etc.

The cart is http://cplshop.co.uk/

Also, where is the code to change the small lines (in green) under the side boxes?

I hope someone can help, so I can impress the boss :laugh:

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

Andy.

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

Most likely, the image isn't in the right place. Did you put it in includes/templates/classic/images ?

The border is here:

.leftBoxContainer, .rightBoxContainer {
margin: 0em;
border: 1px solid #9a9a9a;
border-bottom: 5px solid #336633;
margin-top: 1.5em;
}

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

Please read the Tutorials/FAQ about creating a custom template. You shouldn't be modifying anything in the /classic folders because those are included in all updates/upgrades of Zen Cart and your work will be overwritten.

If you want a jump start on creating a custom template, check out the free templates available by visiting http://(sorry, site offline)/. Use the pulldown menu to change templates and see what they look like on a live site.

Zen Cart is looking for your logo as ncludes/templates/classic/images/logo.gif and not finding it.

The green line is in the stylesheet:

.leftBoxContainer, .rightBoxContainer {
	margin: 0em;
	border: 1px solid #9a9a9a;
	border-bottom: 5px solid #336633;
	margin-top: 1.5em;
	}

Edit: Steve (and his wonderful avatar) beat me to it! :laugh:

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

Hi there,

Thanks for the advice. I will take a look at the templates, as the site is new.

Do upgrades affect a custom template?

Thanks again.

Not directly, so all your changes are safe, but you have to compare the files you modified to the newest versions of the files and upgrade them. It's not as difficult/complicated as it might sound.

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

Hi Afo,

I will take your word on that one......:yes:

Do you know where I can find info on how to create a backup?
Also, all the files are held on my hosts server, so the cart will only be out of service if my server goes down, would I be right here? My boss does not want to lose business....:unsure:

Thanks for your help today.

Regards,

Andy

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

I find the simplest way to keep track (and have a backup at the same time) is to edit the files on my PC and upload them to the Zen Cart installation. You backup your database using phpMyAdmin from your webmaster panel. It will download the data to your PC.

If the server goes down, you'll still be down, but you'll be able to recover.

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

OK, I still can't get the header to appear on the site.

I have the header image in the following folder:

/www/includes/templates/classic/images

The Stylesheet is as follows:

#logoWrapper{
background-image: url(../images/header_bg.jpg);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-color: #c0c0c0;
height:85px;

}

I have another cart set up the same and the header shows up great.

If I change the backround colour, I can see the change.

Any advice?

Regards
Andy

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

Looks like there's someting wrong with the image itself. I can download it, but I can't open it in my imaging software.

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

Hi stevesh,

I have been changing the sizes of the image in CorelDraw, and then exporting as a jpeg. Do you know the size I should be doing, or any recomendations?

The site is here http://cplshop.co.uk/

Thanks for your time.

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

You shouldn't be saving to the classic folders. If you do that, all your work will be lost with the next Zen Cart update/upgrade.

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

Hi Afo,

I am getting the cart up and running with the Classic and then I can work on a custom one in the background and upload when ready. Do you have any ideas about the logo and header?

Andy

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

You say your exporting as a 'jpeg', but its in your stylesheet as a 'jpg', are you sure you calling the same image. Just a thought.

Now it appears the image isn't in the proper folder.

Re: Can someone take a look at my site?

Hi all,

I have taken the header out completly, as it was causing a headache. I will work on it wit a custom template, once this cart is up and running.....

Thanks for your help, and I am sure I will be back....
