Which Add On Or Method To Choose- For Sideboxes With Links That Have Links???

Opening another thread!! I decided after much research that the easiest??? way to accomplish what I would like to do- is add either one of the following!!

Ez pages- which is quite complicated in itself...
Add On Module- "About Us"
Add On Module- "Absolute Links Sidebox"

I've alredy disabled my "More Information" sidebox- through the layout box controller...

I just downloaded two add on modules- the About Us Module add on- and the Absolute Links Sidebox module...

I printed out a forum discussion on building ezpages!!

I think- and I quote "think" I understand them all- to a degree- but my question is which one is best???

My ultimate goal- is to create a sidebox- and still name it More Information. I want to add 3 links in there to start. And they are:

About Our Artists
Articles Of Interest
Just For Fun

Okay- this part is fairly comphresive.. Depending on which of the 3 ways to do this is best..

Sooo- with assistance- any body have any insight into which one works best???

Please note- that on both pages- "Articles Of Interest" and "Just For Fun" I am going to NEED to be able to create pages and links off of those pages.... So for example- on the Articles of Interest page- I am going to put lots and lots of articles- and stuff- and I'm sure its going to need more than just one page- so I'll need:

Articles Of Interest- Page 2, Articles Of Interest- Page 3, etc. etc. etc.....

Looking through the things I printed but would GREATLY apppreciate insight.. I've been round and round and round... I renamed pages in the old "more informatino" box- I've turned things on- and off etc.. BUT for what I'd like to do- and accomplish- i think that one of these 3 things would be a better solution...

These would definitely be best as ez-pages, taking advantage of the built-in table of contents (TOC) system that allows you to link ez-pages to each other without having to have them all show in the sidebox. You can rename the ez-pages sidebox heading as you like, and have links to non-ez-pages in it as well.

The one downside to this, if it matters to you, is that the pages would show in the URL as main_page=page&id=23, rather than the page title.

I thought perhaps ez pages was the way to go- as I read that they loaded faster than modules... I need to read up on how to link ez pages to each other as you said without having them all show in sidebox... I read a forum thread- but honestly- the toc system confused me some!!! I'll read more!!! :)

It doesn't matter to me that the url page would not be "what it is" - as these ez pages I am setting up- are just for "fun" if you will- for our visitors.. A little extra added information to share with them- while they are shopping.. Ways to decorate- etc. etc.. contributed by our artists.... A "BONUS" section!!

Sooo- now to learn more on the structure of this...

I'll need to set up an ez page- called More Information- which will contain my new pages- About Our Artists- Articles Of Interest- and Just For Fun.. Is this correct??? 3 Different ez pages or just one with the links??/

This is so confusing!! now I really have to look at this- to get proper structure.... :)

Just enable your main new pages in the sidebox (choices at top of the editing page), and also in the TOC with a separate chapter number for each. Then your sub-pages get the same chapter number, with a sort order as desired. They also need a sort order in the sidebox, even though they are "off" for the sidebox; this is the flag that tells the code to process the ez-page.

If you have your Home link in the ez-page sidebox now, the best thing would be to remove it from there (don't delete the internal link page, just its sidebox display setting) and install a "Blank Sidebox" from Free Addons to hold it instead. You can turn off its heading the same way you did the first one, and paste something like```php

Going to do all this- this afternoon- so we'll see if I don't "mess" it up!!! :) And printing of couse- because initially- I am only setting up the 3 main ez pages- until I have more content to add to them- at a later date.. And then I'll need to refer back to this!! Until I get "totally zenned" of course Smiles....

Hi there!! Whew- been a busy couple days- so didn't get to the add on.. I tried and tried to do the "blank Sidebox" add on module- and to no avail- it would not work!! Soooo- I downloaded the alternate links module.. Voila!!! Now have my "home" link on top of my sidebar- where I want it- above the log in!!!

Thanks everyone!! Now to set up the ez-pages with my additional links!!! That's going to be for tomorrow though- or aka- later on this morning.. Already almost 3 am. where I am at- and I'm dun like dinner :)

Will let you know how the ezpages box goes!! I have one set up- and may have to edit or delete.. Will have to work on that structure- and table of contents as noted above.. No brain cells left for that tonight though!!
