Different products for different states?

I have not installed zencart yet. I am not sure exactly what I need to accomplish having different stock showing for different states.

I want to be able to have the customer choose what state they are in before officially entering my site and then have the appropiate stock showing in the 'products' section depending on their state. Some stock will overlap different states and some stock is state specific.

I have done searches based on 'filters', 'state filters' and other combinations and have not seen anything describing the process I'm wanting to set up.

Is there anything that can do that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What will one see if they do not enter a state?

Without choosing their state, they will not be able to enter the site.

You could set up your site so that the customers has to Login to Buy ...

This allows them to browse around the site but not to add to cart until they login and from there you can control what products that they can buy ... just customize the function for adding to cart to work based on the products_id and the customer's state ...

I like the idea of the logins. Could the states at the entrance of the site be set up to 'login' to different product views of the shopping cart?

You can customize the software to do anything you want ...

The problem is either you have to write the customizations or hire someone to make them for something where Products are only available to certain states ...
