Should we port our Shopify CartSaver Plugin to ZenCart?

Hi Guys,
We have been getting a few requests to port our Olark Shopping Cart Saver product to Zen-Cart ( olark.com/shopify/video ).

We are pretty excited about the idea, but before spending the time and effort to build the integration we wanted to know what the Zen-Cart community thought of the product.

Basically, Olark let's you chat with visitor to your website using your existing IM clients, so you can answer support requests and sell your products without installing any new software or spending a lot of time sitting around on a website monitoring your site.

With the Shopping Cart Saver product we take this a step further and let store owners see shopper cart balances, and receive notifications when certain actions are performed (order placed, credit card fails, fraud risk detected, item removed from cart).

In any case I am pretty excited about brining Olark to Zen-Cart, but wanted to know if

  1. something like this seemed useful (i.e. there are not existing solutions that everyone already loves)

  2. what else you'd like to see it do (after watching: olark.com/shopify/video ) ?

  3. Who is a good zen-cart developer that you recommend we work with.

Sorry for the extra long post, just so much to get out there :-)

Thank you guys so much,
Ben Congleton

Re: Should we port our Shopify CartSaver Plugin to ZenCart?

Your post follows what's becoming a well-established spamming pattern, i.e. Post that people from this community are asking for your service, talk a bit about it and its benefits (i.e. promotion), link to an external site or video (more promotion) and then ask whether people would be interested (wasn't that answered by the opening paragraph?) and some supplementary questions.

Promotion and link planted, the module never arrives. So, forgive my cynicism, but are you going to hang around long enough to convince us that this isn't spam?

Re: Should we port our Shopify CartSaver Plugin to ZenCart?

Well, it will require a fair amount of work to build it out to work in Zen-desk, and we are committed to building the integration if there's actual interest.

Of course, I completely understand the response, especially in a world filled with spammers. (our own community forum is similarly locked down)

I completely respect your response though.

Look forward to building your guys trust.

Cheers,

Re: Should we port our Shopify CartSaver Plugin to ZenCart?

It won't take much to win trust here. Stick around and participate constructively a few times and you can quickly become part of this community. You're responsive which al;ready tips you more to the good than the dark side. And avoid advertising.

But are you sure you're in the right place? This is Zen-Cart not Zen-Desk. Though the reference to a certain hosted cart would suggest a simple typo

In respect of 3) hang out in the forum a little and you'll quickly get an idea as to who knows their stuff and their respective strengths.

kuroi ,
I often make the Zen-Cart / Zen-Desk typo. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the advice.

I'll definitely look around.

Is something like the aforementioned feature interesting to 'you' personally as someone who uses Zen-Cart?

Cheers,
Ben
