How do I create a blog page in zen cart?

I would like to start a blog, but would like my website to get credit when someone views it, not a site like blog spot. How would I go about setting this up??

Thank you,

Jamie B

You could install Wordpress into a sub-directory on your site (ex. yoursite.com/blog) This way your site still gets credit.

Note: a sub-domain (ex. blog.yoursite.com) is different and is treated as a separate site.

Yeah, I agree with this but wanted to add something to it.

You can download Wordpress and install it on your server under a directory like blog (or what ever you want.)

Here is what I would recommend from there. Do NOT install the add-on modules that integrate the blog into zen cart directly. This actually does you no real good as the blog on its own is setup to perform well without the integration. (If you're only integrating that for the look and feel, then read the below.)

Other things to consider are that if you want the blog to look and feel like the rest of the site you simply design your blog to do that on its own (again no need to 'embed' it into zen cart to make it work.) But even with regard to this, on many occasions the blog of a website looks different (on purpose) than the rest of the site (but with the branding in place.) This sometimes helps create a 'mood' and 'personality'. When it comes to ecommerce and blogs, people do not like to be directly sold to on the blog.

Finally, the advantages of blogs 'outside of' the zen cart interface actually can increase their effectiveness, provide you more flexibility, and give you a better conversion rate (indirectly) than those that are directly integrated with the store.

Just some tips to consider as you move forward.

I typically create the store and then create the blog. Just use the built in ez-pages functions to add a link to the blog in your navigation. You'll need to create an internal or external link for this to work from within the ez pages interface.

Hope that helps.
