Paypal and Paypal Express are built in to Zencart.

Re: Payment add-on for paypal, visa, amex and mastercard

Hi Steve, thank you for answer

I've been looking around the add-ons and read somewhere that Paypal doesn't accept credit card processing outside the US, is that correct?

I'm looking for a Secure Payment Gateway which allows transactions both from
the US and Canada. I found authorize.net which has many fees and a process to sign up, but i'm not sure if it's the right choice

best regards
Fernando

I don't know where you got that idea.
PayPal accepts credit card payments from almost any country around the world. Save except maybe a few countries in middle-eastern europe or maybe asia regions where there are a few places seriously prone to fraud.
In your request about US and Canada, there's no limitations there.

And, since all that support is built-in, you don't need an addon.

Re: Payment add-on for paypal, visa, amex and mastercard

Hey guys, i've been playing around with Paypal built-in modules (IPN and Express) and i am always redirected to
a page where i'm asked to log in with my Paypal account in order to finish the order

Although this makes sense for using Paypal, i would like to give the users the ability to buy directly with their credit cards instead of substracting it from their paypal account

Do you know if this is possible with Paypal Express or should i look into Paypal Pro?

thanks again

best regards
Fernando

Yes, there's an option when configuring your Paypal account that allows your customers to pay without a Paypal account.

Re: Payment add-on for paypal, visa, amex and mastercard

Steve,

Only for future reference, i would like to post some stuff i've learned while doing some research on this

  • Paypal IPN allows you to pay with your paypal account first. If you don't have enough money then it uses your
primary credit card (associated to your account). Seems to me it doesn't allow credit card payments directly

  • Paypal Express seems to work pretty much the same

  • Paypal Pro lets you integrate the credit card payments directly into your website, however it works only for the US
    (confirmed by Paypal support)

  • Authorize.net works both for the US and Canada (also confirmed)

please feel free to edit my post if i made a mistake, this might be useful for some other developer

thanks for all your help, i'll go with the authorize.net option this time

best regards

Re: Payment add-on for paypal, visa, amex and mastercard

Same information discussed in this Tutorial doc: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=28

And Website Payments Pro works in US, Canada, and UK so far.
