Admin Difficulties after installing new cart

Ok I am getting very annoyed I upgraded to the newest version of zen cart today... The when I tried to log into my admin it told me to delete the zc_install folder which I did. Then it told me I had to change the name of my admin folder to log in in addition so I clicked on the tutorial followed the steps (for sure) I know I did because I we over and over on the steps because this hasn't been working. I the go to my website https://www.daystardistributing.com... everything works as far as my template goes but when I try to log on to https://www.daystardistributing.com/%28my new admin name)/ I get this:

Hello. Thank you for loading Zen Cart™.
You are seeing this page for one or more reasons:

  1. This is your first time using Zen Cart™ and you haven't yet completed the normal Installation procedure.
    If this is the case for you, you will need to upload the "zc_install" folder using your FTP program, and then run zc_install/index.php via your browser (or reload this page to see a link to it).

  2. Your /includes/configure.php and/or /admin/includes/configure.php file contains invalid path information and/or invalid database-connection information.
    If you recently edited your configure.php files for any reason, or maybe moved your site to a different folder or different server, then you'll need to review and update all your settings to the correct values for your server.
    See the Online FAQ and Tutorials area on the Zen Cart™ website for assistance.

To begin installation ...

  1. The Installation Documentation can be read by clicking here: Documentation
  2. You will need to upload the "zc_install" folder using your FTP program, and then run zc_install/index.php via your browser (or reload this page to see a link to it).
  3. The Online FAQ and Tutorials area on the Zen Cart™ website will also be of value if you run into difficulties.

So given that I went back and checked my permissions they are DEFINITELY set to read only... The folder name is the same as what is speced in my configure.php document... So I am not sure at all what is going on what should I do??? All slashes are still there where it says https://www.mysite.com on the config I am supposed to change that to what mine is rioght??

Please help lol

Thanks,

Casper

Re: Admin Difficulties after installing new cart

I see one line in the file that is still pointing towards the old admin directory:

define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/daystar5/public_html/admin/');

That must be changed too.

Good luck,

Arjan

Re: Admin Difficulties after installing new cart

Hey thanks man, went in and changed that it said to add those two sections on the zencart tutorial but tey are already there which is weird so I took them out and overwrote the originals this is what they looked like. I also just reinstalled again to make sure I am not doing something wrong.,.. here is now my config file (still not working same problem!):

Re: Admin Difficulties after installing new cart

You are showing:

define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/daystardistributing.com/www/public/secretgarden/');
define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/daystardistributing.com/www/public/');

and then:

define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/daystar5/public_html/cache');

What is the real home path?
/home/daystardistributing.com/www/public

-- or --

/home/daystar5/public_html

Re: Admin Difficulties after installing new cart

I'd check in the Control Panel for your domain and see if it says what that is or ... ask your host for the proper path ...

The fact that you have your files in /public_html indicates to me you have something moofed up in the configure.php file(s) ...

Re: Admin Difficulties after installing new cart

Look at these paths:
define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/daystardistributing.com/www/public_html/xxxxx/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/daystardistributing.com/www/public_html/');

define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/daystar5/public_html/cache');

You only have 1 path for your home path ... you need to pick the correct one and use it everywhere that the path is needed ...

Re: Admin Difficulties after installing new cart

Same thing happened to me today and I just omited the new entries in the "renaming admin folder" instructions that appeared.

 define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/your domain.com/www/public/admin/');

 define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/your domain.com/www/public/');

Also, in those instructions, id didnt specify to change the entry

 define('DIR_FS_ADMIN

entry on line 122 of the admin/includes/config.php

I cant find the instructions I am refering to, but they pop up in a link when trying to acces admin right after uploading version 1.3.9 g version.
