Zen Cart support by third party distributor?

If I bought a Zen Cart program from a local Zen Cart licence distributor outside of US, is it their responsibility to set up the programme for me if I had tried and fail to set it up myself following the Zen Cart tutorials?

Also, why is it that the distributor discourage me to check for upgrades for Zen Cart online shop program?

Any advise for a newbie Zen cart user?

ZenCart is FREE, what they might be selling is value added items like installation, configuration, etc.
They should not be selling ZenCart itself

Re: Zen Cart support by third party distributor?

aye? FREE? ok...hmm... that's a piece of missing info I didn't know..thank you for that... so which means whatever I'm paying for is for installation + configuration & hosting it right? So should they be responsible to to set up and configure everything to functional standard for me? how do I know where to draw the line about what I have to do and what I should expect them to do for what we are paying for?

By the way, is Zen Cart free outside US? What about for Australia & NZ?

Read what they stste
ZenCart, being FREE, does not have anything to do with what others offer

Re: Zen Cart support by third party distributor?

Thanks. I'm really sorry now to have got into this Zen Cart thingy really just to help a friend...I don't own a business, she does. Apparently (call it stupid or ignorant or really too busy) she's too busy running her brick & mortar shop. She was approached by this company about setting a website. She agreed to just wanted an information site and not an onlineshop, (I know alot of it has herself to blame) but the company who set up a webpage for her also installed Zen Cart online shop for her (I suspect now using her as a guinea pig!) but never told her how to work it! So it has been present for a couple of years and not properly set up until i came along. She asked and I agreed to load products, pricing, pictures, simple stuff u know hoping to help her and get onto biz with the understanding from her that her payment system is working fine but I've just realised it isn't after 3 weeks of hard work! We've got people complaining about trying to buy but can't pay. The whole system of receiving email orders and transaction is crap at the moment. So...my question is do I have to go onto the Zen Cart tutorial to learn how to work it myself or should I hold the company responsible to get it functioning? That's all I was trying to get at really. (sorry..a bit long winded here...but i'm really really know nothing about Zen Cart and is frustrated. )

Re: Zen Cart support by third party distributor?

This really has nothing to do with ZenCart as it is FREE
You need to see what they promised

I would doubt that unless the deal was to supply an e commerce solution in the first place that you will be able to convince the company to configure and stock the online shop, however the good news is that after a small bit of research you should find Zen cart easy to set up and operate.
In either case you will find plenty of friendly people on this forum more than willing to assist you with specific problems.:D

Re: Zen Cart support by third party distributor?

Thank you all for your support on this... I will certainly ask again if I hv questions...actually, (pat on my own back :smartalec:), i've done really well with tutorials about some backend issues (turning certain stuff on and off - simpler stuff really) over the last 3 weeks...but it's really alot of pain and time consuming though...few times I asked the guy who "sold" the program about removing this and that...setting email account and all, he just shut me off saying "can't be done as it's by default it's set up that way." for some reasons i didn't quite believe him, so I went google answers for it, and found it and got them sorted . As English is not my first language, I have alot of headaches searching for answers, I simply cannot understand the technical terms.. and knowing how to phrase a question sometimes... now I have problems with setting up the payment system been at it for 3 days!!!! :censored:... I guess this is not the place to ask right? Am I right to say I have to look for the right place to ask about a specific problem? For example : payment set up? Where do I go?:dontgetit

There are several payment options available in admin>modules>payment. There are other payment options available in the Free Software Add Ons section of the forum (see link at top of page).
