Out of Memory error when I perform a search

You would need to ask yourself: "What has changed on my site?"

That will answer what has been done on your end and give you a start point for your troubleshooting.

If still no solution you could ask your Hoster the same question. Very often a Hoster will change Server settings which, in theory, should not cause major problems for clients... but sometimes it does.

Any thoughts as to why the memory on this site suddenly became a problem after 10 months? Maybe I can fix THAT instead of doing this lengthy work around.

Agreed. The "suddenly" part is what you need to investigate.

Nothing changed on the site. And by nothing, I mean nothing was added by Admin. People joined the site and made purchases, but no add ons or changes of any sort were made by Admin in the last couple months.

Interestingly, the search is working again. Once again, I didn't make any changes, it just started working. So, it's back to asking HG why this happened.
