Default order status not being used on new orders

I’ve set default order status to “Complete” in Admin->Localization->Order Status (was set to Pending). When new orders come in they are still set to a status of “Pending”? Any ideas? Thanks.

Each of your Payment Modules (admin Modules->Payment) have their own default order_status. For example, the Check/Money Order payment module defaults to 'Pending' because you wouldn't want to ship a product until the check had cleared.

You might try checking there.
