Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread

I tried to add in the main page define pages editor but it threw the slide pics off. The text showed where I wanted it though.

Did you have the "plain text" editor selected when you did the edit? Please post a link to your site.

Thanks,

Anne

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread

I got it, Thanks! You were right, I was not using plain editor.

Could you look at one thing please? I am almost set but I have an issue. If you add any product to the cart, when you go to the cart the side boxes top and bottoms are thrown off and all the category links turn blue. Do you have any ideas? I did not change any code that I know, of just colors.

Btw I am working on the site now so other things might change a bit. The site is https://www.jpsbears.com

OK I think I got almost everything done. I still have the shopping cart issue above. I was able to get everything else going as I wanted. We love the template and thanks again for sharing!

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread

Thank you for such a beautiful template.

I have downloaded the Aberdeen Neutral template but the Categories are missing ( that entire area to the left is blank) Also the search box at the top write hand side is blank - no words just a grey box. Can anyone provide any help please.

Thanks much.

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread

You have to turn them on. Go to you zen cart admin panel and go tools/layout boxes controller.

Remimber that this template is made to only support the left side columns and the header for search, languages and currency. If you try anything on the right you will get some blue boxes.

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread

And here folks is why it pays to do two things before posting ANYTHING IN in ANY module support thread!!

  1. Read the ENTIRE support thread. Yes I said the WHOLE support thread.. I don't care HOW LONG it is.. Chances are that someone who didn't read the readme or tried to customize this template has ALREADY posted the question and someone else has ALREADY posted the answer to your question.. In my case I installed this perfectly the FIRST TIME.. Though I was able to MANUALLY edit my about us page, I wanted to know WHY it did not appear in the admin define pages editor.. I read this thread (I could have searched this thread, but I like reading the support threads.. they provide VALUABLE data) and BAM my answer was the one I have quoted below.

  2. READ THE ****ing MANUAL.. There is a VERY DETAILED install.txt file that comes with this template.. It still AMAZES me that people still install templates and modules BLINDLY and then ask one question after another that is ALREADY ADDRESSED IN THE README!!! Goodness.. RTFM RTFM!!!

</rant>

NICE template.. I normally build my wn templates from "scratch", but this one was EXACTLY what I needed for a re-design project I may be working on soon.. This template was the same darn color scheme as the potential clients current site (with a MUCH IMPROVED look and feel).. So thank you thank.. Hopefully by showing them this template on a down and dirty demo site I spun up in about three seconds (okay not literally, but you get the point) I will win the client over.. (they are not convinced that a re-write is what they need yet..)

picaflor-azul:

Copy includes/languages/english/html_includes/aberdeen_neutral/define_about_us.php to includes/languages/english/html_includes/define_about_us.php

Thanks,

Anne

Since this only happens on your shopping cart page, I would look at the add ons you have for that page especially the css to see if something is conflicting.

Thanks,

Anne

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread

All of your templates are beautiful and well designed and CODED properly.

(Can you HEAR ME ON THIS Template Monstrosity????)

You really put to bed the often repeated notion that PROPERLY coded and BEAUTIFUL templates cannot be done with Zen Cart or are not available in the downloads sections..

It's not that Zen Cart templates are hard to create on your own either.. But I do get that not everyone will want to do the work required to create custom templates.. (I personally LIKE creating my own templates!) Which is why so many folks turn to those horrible hacked up templates at Template Monster.

Anyway thank you for contributing so many beautiful and well done templates!!

Wow! Thank you so much for the praise--you have made my day

I love it when people find the free templates useful. I hope that they help to encourage people to try zen cart.

Thanks,

Anne

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread

Hi all;
I created a new page called FAQ. It shows up in Define pages under Tools, but when I put in the text it does not show up under the FAQ hyperlink. What do I need to correct it?

Best to all, and keep the good work

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread

Hi,

Excellent template, thank you. I do however have one problem. The featured product will only display in one column. I have been through word by word of the install.txt but I still can't get it to show in three columns.

Any suggestions and I would be eternally grateful.

Hi, site is here http://tinyurl.com/6k3gxnc

Your example page shows the featured products with three products across the page. The normal products act correctly (with three columns) only the featured products do not.

Thanks
