Who's online showing

I've noticed that Who's Online in admin (using v1.39c at the moment) is showing strange results.

Initially, it will show the correct link, such as /category1/product

If I keep hitting refresh, it then passes through a variety of template folders such as includes/templates/etc/etc/left_corner.png

This is obviously not what I wanted as it makes it very difficult to work out how customers are behaving on the site.

Spiders seem to report correctly with no problems. It's just real people who don't show the category/product correctly.

Anyone able to help me out?

Re: Who's online showing

Hi,

I had the same problem, what was causing mine as you explained is it would show the image location for a file, this is because they are references in a css file that do not exist.

What I did to fix it quickly was create a 1x1 pixel file and name is what ever was showing as the destination URL and place it in the same location, it would then do the same for a different image, I needed to do this 4 times until it finally showed the page name. Alternatively you could find in the css or page code what is calling the image file and remove it.

Hope this helped.

Re: Who's online showing

bigsy85, thanks for the tip. I can't find reference to the files in question within the css for the template BUT I think I found another clue...the path for the images is getting missed (although the page is loading fine as I don't believe the images are actually used)

If for example, someone is on the main store page, it's fine, just shows as "/" in who's online. Same with pages like new products, specials etc.

If someone is looking at a product within a category, it looks something like this:

/category/sub_category/images/imagename.png

It's almost as if the page is looking for the images from the path of the folder it's on rather than /includes/templates/template name/images/

I'm not sure where to go from here....

Re: Who's online showing

Yep, sounds exactly like my problem, just look at each destination URL, and create the image its looking for as a 1x1 pixel image so it finds an image and displays it, but doesn't cause any problems on your site because its only 1x1 small.

Re: Who's online showing

Found the offending lines of code. It was calling a bunch of images so I tried to edit the path to be an absolute path but that still didn't work so said b******s to that and just commented out the lines.

I wasn't using them anyway as the graphics called related to a display module I wasn't using, in favour of Zen Lightbox so all sorted as far as I'm concerned and a happy camper to boot.

Thanks for the pointers :-)

Re: Who's online showing

I had a similar problem and found that the FAQ (side box) Module was the cause and by disabling it the whos online paths were shown correctly again.
