Did I just lose EVERYTHING?????

I was talking with customer support at Godaddy, and the guy I was talking to said that I would have better luck with thing if I switched to the Linux server, instead of the Windows server I was on. So he walked me through everything on how to change it....and now my site is down and says welcome to Zenart....

I did receive an email from them saying something about having a new ip address, but did mess up and lose all of my data on my site?? Please tell me i will be able to recover everything as it was!

Only your Hoster knows what they did. Best to ask them what's up.

Where would I need to change the ip address at?

IP gets changed in your hosting account - Go daddy should be able to help you with that.

Did you do a site backup? If so you should be able to restore a backup and your cart should be restored....

I contacted Godaddy again and they told me that I need to change my configure.php file, only problem is, I dont know what it is supposed to look like so I dont know what I should be looking for.

Can anyone offer any assistance on this, or what I should be looking for, any tutorials on what a sample configure.php file should look like?

Any and all help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Is that all information for BEFORE you make the change? Unfortunately I have already made the change and now my site is down because of it.

The point is ... you clearly don't know the correct paths to specify in your configure.php file for your new server (yes, it's a new server when you switch operating systems).
So, if you run a NEW install (yes, that'll wipe your database), it'll build the new configure.php files for you to match your new server requirements. Then you import your database backup to put all the data back. (Yes, you need to make a database backup BEFORE you do anything)

Ok, I did make a database back up In MySQL on my hosting site. Hopefully that is what I needed to do and hopefully all my old stuff is still there.

The people at Godaddy keep telling me that everything is "supposed" all just transfer over with more more to be done...

Ok, so now that I have the database backed up, where do I save that file? And what do I need to do after that?

I have started two different threads related to this subject. But I need some one to please help me out and give me some real life direction on how to fix this. Something that an idiot(me) can understand.

Can anyone assist me with this on getting things squared away? They keep telling me I need to change the configure.php file, but unfortunately I dont know enough about this to know what that file is supposed to look like and what should/shouldnt be there.

Thats what I dont know...and they(the people at Godaddy) dont know either.

I am so unbelievably frustrated with all of this I cant even put it in words.

Please any real direction on this is greatly appreciated.

But cheap hosting = cheap support

I had GoDaddy for awhile and used zen cart from the free programs available with the hosting. Are you doing this, or did you install a fresh copy yourslf? In light :), Nilla

As Dr Byte has already said the full pathway from the root of the server to your website will be different on a Linux server to what they were on a Windows server. These are the DIR_FS pathways in the two Zen Cart configure.php files.

If you don't know what the full pathways are then the info below will tell you how to find out:

1. Create a new text document on your desktop and name it cwd.php. Ignore the warning about changing the file type.

2. Put this code into it:

$p = getcwd();
echo $p;
?>

3. Upload it to the root of your domain via FTP.

4. Go to http://www.yourdomain.com/cwd.php via your browser and printed on the screen will be the full pathway to the root of your domain.

5. Write down that pathway and then delete the cwd.php file from your hosting.
