POP up "larger image" displaying small image

Using v1.3.9g on an IIS7 server.

I am having trouble with the pop up larger images. They are displaying at the setting for my small images i.e when you click on the link to them, they open up as eg 400px × 550px (scaled to 100px × 90px)

I am using the ImageHandler mod (v2_0-Rev8c), but was having this problem before installing it, thats one of the reasons I added it...so I believe it is a more general issue with my Zen install rather than the mod. I am also using the Silverfish template.

This is driving me mad. I just reinstalled Zen and it was working fine. Now Its displaying the small javascript pictures again.

Any of the gurus able to see what's going wrong?

No modules installed. I have a modded Silverfish template, but the problem is still there when I use the Zen default template.

Have you set you image sizes in the admin>configuration>images?

I have changed a couple of these, but have no idea which of these affects the pop up. From the tutorials, it looks like it should just use the original image (or the large image if present.)

You're trying to use one image for all purposes, but that's not how Zen Cart works.
Zen Cart uses separate images of separate sizes, since most of the time it's displaying the smaller images in product listings etc, and only occasionally the medium image (on product pages), and even less often it's displaying the large images (only on request). This aids in speeding website performance since the most-displayed images are much smaller in size, and therefore display on the page much more quickly.

Simply convert to using the 3 sized images as per the above tutorial article, and it will all work fine.

I was still finding the popup was scaling the image to 120 x 100 (my config/images setting for the small image) so I turned "calculate image size to true" and that seemed to fix it.
