Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

Hi,

Is it normal that the "Thank you for your order!" e-mail to the customer does not show the ordered product or is that a setting I missed somewhere?

Thanks,

esebm

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

The email to the customer, after completing an order, contains a detailed Order with Billing and shipping address and the detailed Product information, quantities and prices ...

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

I have no idea what to tell you ...

I go to your site and depending on how I navigate ... one minute I have 1 check out the next another checkout and it is like I am in two different software packages with two different checkout sites ...

Maybe that comes from the other checkout site ...

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

That's not a Zen Cart confirmation email. It must be from the payment gateway instead.

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

For some reason you have your Zencart pages inside iframes. That often won't work with payment and shipping functions.

Ajeh,

What do you mean by "Maybe that comes from the other checkout site ...". What other checkout site?

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

So, this e-mail does not come from the shopping cart but from Aurhorize.net?

Does Zen cart send out a confirmation e-mail?

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

Steve,

The cart is in an iframe to fit into the overall website layout. I don't understand how that could affect the cart functionality.

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

Most payment and shipping estimator functions won't work properly within iframes for security reasons. It isn't a Zencart restriction, but rather the actions of the payment and shipping companies.

The best practice when using Zencart is to make it your whole site. That way you don't need to fiddle around trying to get stuff to work together.

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

Yes, Zen Cart does send an order-confirmation email.
But the one you quoted and said you want to change isn't the one from Zen Cart .... unless you've already highly customized it and specifically removed the product details, in which case you wouldn't be asking the question.

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

In order for Zen Cart to generate the confirmation email, the information from your payment gateway has to be returned to the Zen Cart site. Since you are running the site in a frame, the information is NOT being returned to the cart and the email is not being generated. You MUST remove the frame or you cart will not function properly.

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

I checked with authorize.net and they tell me the reason that they can't include the item description in their e-mail because they don't get it from the shopping cart in the first place.

Catch 22, huh?

And as to the iframe issue, we have tried both ways (with and without iframe) and they equally don't show the item description.

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

Catch-22? not really.

The email you're asking to change isn't an email generated from Zen Cart.

The email that is generated from Zen Cart does contain all the order details. Every time a customer successfully completes payment Zen Cart sends an order confirmation with all the order's details.

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

I know the e-mail in question is from authorize.net.

What I said was "that they can't include the item description in THEIR e-mail because they don't get it from the shopping cart in the first place".

The item description is not in their e-mail because they do NOT get the description from the shopping cart!

Is there any proof that the shopping cart sends this information out?

Re: Thank you for your order! e-mail does not show ordered product

No. That information is NOT sent, because it's not needed.
The email which does contain all the details IS sent from the cart, not from the payment gateway.
