enable/disable Centerbox not working

After moving my site to a live server by following the FAQ on that topic I simply imported my old database to the new database name (using the servers MySQL tool) and my site 'appears' to be working. However when I try to disable or enable centerboxes such as Featured Products on the main page or New Products for [this month] or Monthly Specials for [this month] nothing seems to change.
Any suggestions as to what might be the problem?

Did you change /admin/includes/configure/php to reflect the new db as well as the new folder location?

Ive had a look in admin/includes/configure.php and I can't see a place to put a folder location for the sql file.. in fact i'm not sure where on my server it is stored.

it must be seeing it though coz all my products are displayed in the new products center box... maybe when I set this site up a year ago i had some override stuff going on.. but I forget what I did.

Any more suggestions?

There is no folder location for a SQL file; the configure file only needs to know the correct database name, username and password for the db. You must have them correct for the front end version (/includes/configure.php), as your products etc. are displaying.

yep, true, but have you any idea why when I use the admin/configuration/index listing section to try to reactivate the featured or More products boxes... it's not working?

Could it be some override thing happening? I remember installing a new template way back then.. but not sure where to look or change that now.. can you suggest anything?

Can you do other things in your admin (change settings)? If not, then the db access info in /admin/includes/configure.php is likely the culprit.

If you did not reset the db info when you moved the site, that is definitely the problem.

Yep I can change other things.. for example I just went in and changed the store name just to try something and down the bottom the copyright info changed to what I altered it to in admin my store... or did you mean specifically in the index listing section...

Yep, I can change other settings like turning on or off the new peoducts center box, changing the amount of columns in that box etc... but still cant get featured, more or special to display

Some progress: I noticed a listing Featured Products under admin/catalog, i noticed this note at the top "status is auto enabled/disabled when dates are set"

so i went in and added a product with a date and "bingo" the featured product box appears where it should be on the main page according to the index listing setting... however aswell as the Featured Products box a box comes up under that one entitled in plain text with no coloring: Upcoming products, it also has what appears to be a bit of code in it (TABLE_CAPTION_UPCOMING_SOON)

anyway at least I am getting somewhere... i think.
but having uncovered another problem I feel like i might be just digging the hole deeper.

Anyway isnt it incredible that after hours of reading not once did any post I read mention the Featured Products drop down item under the Catalog menu item in relation to having this center box appear or disappear...
I hope my efforts in finding it might help someone else not take so much time getting on the right track to finding a solution.

oh well back to confusion... that technique didnt work for a centerbox entitled specials... and the code still seems to be on my site cant work out how to get rid of that...
