How to edit homepage?

I want to edit the homepage and get rid of the Buy the manual and the Enter Site Message Here.

The only problem is it says I do not have the right to write that script, and that I need to go to a certain directory...

Please Help

It sounds like you have a permissions issue, but if you follow the instructions in the FAQ/Tutorials about creating a custom template, you'll find lots of the stuff you're looking to change will be gone automatically.

There are free templates available for Zen Cart. You can see them in action at http://(sorry, site offline)/
